Solids Handling Terminal for Petrozuata, S.A.

at Jose, Anzoátegui State, 1998

This terminal has been designed for coke and sulphur loading for export, serving vessels from 20,000 to 65,000 DWT.

Includes a concrete trestle on steel piles, a loading platform, a service platform, mooring and breasting dolphins, the latter as part of the loading platform.

Dredging for the access channel and basin and navigation aids have been part of the project. Main activities included:
  • A comprhensive study of environmental parameters that can affect operations and the terminal performance: winds, waves, currents, bottom soil properties, seismic hazard
  • Developing of basic and detail engineering of all the structures. For this project, all the piles are vertical and most part of the structure is pre-fabricated.
  • Specifications for fenders, quick release hooks, steel piles, concrete, navigation aids
  • Design of electric supply and distribution, substation, lighting, cathodic protection, communication system.
  • Design of all the instrumentation and controls required.
  • Design of the fire detection and fighting system, including pumps, pipes, guns, etc.
  • Design of a heavy loads berth for unloading special equipment.
