Basic and Detail Engineering for Loading Arms at Berths # 4 and # 5 for PDVSA at Guaraguao Terminal, Anzoátegui State, 1998

Guaraguao marine terminal is one of the oldest in Venezuela for crude oil and refined products export. Jetties # 4, 5 and # 7 have the largest oil export capacity. The basic and details engineering were developed for the substitution of the loading arms and loading manifolds on the berths # 4 and # 5.

The project included:

  • The dismantlement procedures of equipments and existing facilities
  • Specifications for five new loading arms in each jetty, equipped with emergency liberation systems and extreme position alarm system.
  • Design of new manifolds and related instrumentation and control systems.
  • The existing loading platforms have been analyzed for the new loads and for the new, more stringent, seismic code. The stuctural reinforcement of the two platform have been designed.
  • This project included also the relocation of the loading arms control system of jetty # 6 and the Detail Engineering for the installation of a new ship hydraulic access ladder.
